And I was a great white whale

I looked up at her face beneath the heavens and laughed

"You're dandruff looks like stars" I mocked

"Im bound for the stars, brennan. You are not propelled"

"No" I said, "I am a great white whale, we are dragged around

by the harpoons that are given to us"

"Then you're cut up and left for dead" she told me.

"I wouldn't know" I said, "I'd be dead then."

She turned and pushed herself back through the screen door.

I layed on the wooden slats, abandoned by the sun and left to freeze

Alone and without warmth in the November night. I heard the front door

Slam, and her shoes clip-clop up the street.
