Maybe we should stop talking about love altogether.
I saw a bag of shitty tasting valentine candies today and it said “love is timeless, and so is your sweetheart.” That’s probably because its chalk and preservatives. One time my friend scott told me that the term sweetpea actually came from diabetics or something that couldn’t digest sugar and so their urine was full of sugar.
I’m reluctant to find out where sweetheart came from. I’m not really sure why I feel this way. I’m not burned by love, just by expectations. What people expect from me, from themselves, us. I can’t compete and its ruthless, I’ve always been burned my most when they expect things not to work, or access that they can’t and just give up.
Do people not think about what their doing? I’ve been yelled at for being in a relationship I wasn’t completely into but thought “well maybe we’ll catch fire.” Yelled at. Do people get yelled at for their impromptu decisions and realize that when they are feeling more cynical and give up that someone else might not.
I was born a dreamer in a world of children who followed the “I told you so advice” of their bitter old parents. I sometimes lay awake at night and talk these decisions out loud to myself. “but why would they do that” solves a lot of my problems. I can’t say whats wrong with people but I can see myself in the future, in a drafty old building drinking to myself and watching the people walk by on the street below. Every teacher and theater major and broken down dream sets to the pen to make a career.
Callous from the failing they write the wind in the wires and birds on a line and I get to waste money on a thousand wanna-be Hemmingway knock-offs. Maybe love is all plutonic and I can love the cratered streets of The Weir and its sunny hilltops and crowded quarters more than I can other people. The scenery and the emotion contained in my memories of how it should be. Maybe I’m just as bad as the women who’ve loved me but I can’t hurt memories and the streets won’t be hurt if I only go home to Taunton every two years.

No i don't hate women.
“Change To Win has officially decided to throw its endorsement behind Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), according to Anna Burger, the chair of the group.
"Change to Win is excited to announce the endorsement of Barack Obama for President. We are the unions that organize and mobilize working people and believe that we can make a huge difference on the ground in the upcoming primaries. Change To Win is the new labor movement, the labor movement of the 21st century and we are excited about our ability to make a difference."

UPDATE, 4:00 p.m. Eastern time: An astute reader notes that the Farm Workers had previously endorsed Hillary Clinton in late January. That means that either the Change To Win endorsement of Barack Obama -- if it happens -- won't be unanimous or it will be a HUGE story that the Farm Workers changed candidate. The former scenario is far more likely.”
So I have to confess something. I am a civics nerd at a level unparalleled to all over civics nerds, because its not just a passion to me. It’s a sought after religion. That might so like too much. I assume you, nothing about me is kidding when I say that.
Which leads me to the above excerpt. If you missed my subtle endorsement 2 posts ago then you were sleeping. But subtle it was because I didn’t mention a “why” or anything and that’s really the issue I’m hoping to address today.
Because politics is a religion to me, I’ll like it to the religion for everyone else. If that’s the case, Barack Obama is the Martin Luther of American Democratic Republicanism (government). Stick with me here, I’ll weave between metaphor and reality without warning. The priests and senators of the old roman church can no longer read, their taking donations for the war chest to save our souls from damnation and the troglodytes across the aisle. The war at home is just as fierce as the war abroad and with almost as much money. Its time someone called it like it is, nailed it to the door, and lead by example.
These late game endorsements prove it all the more. If you’re not new to the Clintonian regime, their loyal and its hurting their campaign. They hired their old friends, they planned for super Tuesday then mailed it in. Now their praying for Ohio and Texas and the unions, politicians and non-profits are praying she loses.
If you have the audacity to endorse Obama, you’d better hope he wins. The long memory of the greatest political tag team in history is vicious, and it’s resolute. I am not endorsing Obama because he’s a good speaker or a reconciliatory aisle crosser, but because he’s inexperienced. In my political formula, experience amounts to how best to serve yourself. I want someone who has a philosophy but not a history. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But if it is broke, please do not keep sending the same oligarchy back to Washington.
And I’ve encountered some resistant on path way to convincing folks to make the right decision. Some think he’s a terrorist, his middle name is Hussain. Think what you want, but if you think that, please refrain from voting. That’s much worse than who was wearing the better tie. At least who you think wore the better tie is a truth. You do think (I’m praying) that you liked one tie better than the other. But “terrorist”? Just brainstorm for ten seconds. Think of all the questions I’m going to ask you on “how the hell you know that.” Think. Think before you say “well I heard.” You heard from other stupid people. And stupid is an overlooked everyman word so let me reinforce. Its not that you can’t learn because you’ve reached your intelligence cap, its because you don’t read, the paper, or a book, or google news for fucks sake. And that’s worse than being unable to learn.
And that’s a further question, someone so completely uninvested in anything political, that should have the ability to dictate misinformation from a barstool as if their a biographer…Why? These folks must be routed. They have to be challenged. We’ve got a spine in a democrat for the first time in a long time. Its not too much to ask that we have one when the need arises.
I’ve heard he’s been on jihad, he’s been to madrassa, he has no experience, I heard he was black, he has no legislation with his name on it (he’s a 1 term jr. senator so this argument is made again by people who don’t know what their talking about) he can’t win in a general election.
They called the protestants heretics and sinners, and agents of the devil. Don’t be fooled folks. The politicians can’t read, and I’m sick of looking at the emperor with no clothes on. Vote smart, vote early, vote often….Vote Obama.

"Over the sea and far away." *
"The fire fades away, and most of every day is full of tired excuses and its too hard to take, I wish it were simple but we give up easily..."
The train pulled out of Cranton like a bow across a string and on its horizon was New York City and further in the distance like an opaque mountain range; New England.
The dark woods of Connecticut enveloped my vision while the gray hound sped up through the interstate and a stranger slept on my shoulder while Neil Young played Harvest Moon in my head phones while I clung to his 30 year old promises and I clung to my back pack like I was dying.
The pike tasted like defeat and my sheets stung my skin. I knew it when the door shut…I knew it on the platform, staring south toward a ham pink horizon. And when I sat on that train all I had was a fools luck and a systems glitch worth a chance.
And in a warehouse with no reception, through a hole in the lead walls I was struck by a letter so callous. Your message, so vicious and flippant. I was happy to be in the company of those with whom I had a reputation to uphold.
And in the wee hours of the morning I still can’t find a reason to seethe in the mess and the piles of the past. I don’t love you I just wish it was you on my arm when they cheer my name, or when I rode a slow boat to nowhere. And my grandchildren will know your name when she’s out of the room getting them ice cream. And I’ll change the story, and she’ll never know what you are except in every line I write her, and thoughtful act and all apologies.
You’re a West Egg thought when I stand on a beach and if the world ends in a week and three days…when my glacier of false love cracks, my compass will run you down like a dog.
I beg the salesmen for Yesterday and filthy City sidewalks and cigarettes. For all that pop music has traded its soul for a t-shirt and a movie contract it can accidentally trip over a dissonant pain and cut me slant-wise and leave me a terrible sod.
I’m afraid time has blurred my memory and engrangured my thoughts but they are all I have and I am still in love with you. I love you.
"And back at the Hilton, last but not least, Milton was holding his sides. He said you bravo's you'd better be ready to fight, or we'll never get out of East Texas tonight, the trail is long and the river is wide..."
*I had wanted to edit this more but people were asking for something new. Please post any criticism you have. This one means quite a bit to me.
